CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (09/08/2015) — Jesus Lopez died following a Tuesday night wreck, which involved two vehicles.
According to police, 48-year-old Jesus Lopez—the Assistant Band Director for Veteran’s Memorial High School—was killed on Tuesday night in a two-vehicle car accident on Cimarron Boulevard in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Reports state that Lopez was leaving Veteran’s Memorial High School grounds, preparing to turn onto Cimarron Blvd when he was struck by the driver of a red pickup truck.
Police state that the 26-year-old driver of the pickup truck may have fell asleep behind the wheel and struck Lopez’s vehicle. The impact of the collision wedged Lopez’s sedan between some trees.
Lopez was reportedly transported to a nearby area hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the red pickup truck was also taken to the hospital with injuries.
Police are currently investigating this fatal accident.
