LEANDER, TX (04/10/2016) — Motorcyclist Tyler Brummel sustained serious injuries after his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Leander Police Department (LPD), 20 year-old Tyler J. Brummel was injured in a motorcycle accident that occurred at the intersection of Hero Way (FM 2243) and Highway 183 in Leander, Texas.
The LPD reported that at around 1:30 p.m., Brummel was traveling on the service road of the highway in a red and silver Honda motorcycle when he was struck by a black GMC pickup truck.
Brummel suffered serious, and possibly life-threatening injuries. He was transported to St. David’s Hospital in Round Rock, Texas.
The LDP Collision Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the specifics of this collision.
As we have mentioned before, motorcycles are sometimes difficult to detect on the road due to their small size. Motorcycle drivers have almost no protection against other vehicles, except a helmet. As such, all drivers should check twice for motorcyclists and give them plenty of room.
We hope that the victim in this accident fully recovers, and that this unfortunate accident serves as a reminder to drivers to always ALWAYS look twice for motorcycles.
