At around 2:15 am on Tuesday morning, James Dunne was speeding in his Honda on Central Expressway when he slammed into the back of a Yellow Check shuttle van. The Honda spun to a stop on the highway between the Spring Valley and Main Street exits. The van rolled over repeatedly, finally coming to a stop right-side up on the service road. Inside the van was driver Matthew Leon and passengers Kenneth and Carol Dux. Kenneth Dux’s arm was severed at the elbow during the accident. He was taken to Parkland hospital in serious condition. His wife Carol suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Parkland.
Police believe that 34-year-old Dunne was drunk at the time of the accident. He suffered only a minor hand injury in the crash. He was taken to Methodist Dallas were his blood was drawn for a blood-alcohol test. The results have not yet been officially reported, but Dunne has already been charged with intoxication assault.
