Jack County, Texas (03/30/2014) — 63-year-old Walter Millsap, of Fort Worth, was killed yesterday afternoon in a motorcycle-vs-car accident on State Highway 199, just outside of Jacksboro, Texas.
The accident happened on Sunday at about 3:30 p.m. on Highway 281 near the intersection with Highway 199. According to reports, Walter Millsap was riding eastbound on State Highway 199. The driver of a 4-door gray pickup truck was travelling northbound on 281 when it ran a stop sign and crossed the path of Mr. Millsap. Walter Millsap then collided with the rear of the truck.
Walter Millsap was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. It was reported that Mr. Millsap was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, but it’s important to note that motorcycle helmets (while strongly recommended) are not required in Texas.
Officials say the driver and passenger in the truck were not injured, but right now I’m concerned with whether the driver was ticketed or arrested. If not, I’d be interested in learning why.
