LONGVIEW, TX (10/18/2015) — William and Merri Ewing were killed Sunday night after their car was involved in a T-bone accident.
The Longview Police Department identified 50-year-old William Bryan Ewing and 42-year-old Merri Ann Ewing as the two victims of a fatal car accident on Sunday night that occurred in the 500 block of East Loop 281 (near Eastman Road) in Longview, Texas.
Authorities reported that at around 9:37 p.m., William Ewing was traveling northbound, attempting to cross a highway intersection, when he was broadsided by truck hauling a boat—driven by 26-year-old James Devin Worsham. According to Gregg County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace James Mathis, Worsham “might’ve ran a red light before colliding with the Ewings’ Nissan Versa.”
After the impact, the Ewing’s car left the roadway and came to rest against a pole. William and Merri were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Worsham was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
This fatal accident remains under investigation.
Commentary
While not much information was released on who was at fault for this accident, the fact that the victim’s car was broadsided in the intersection points to a red light violation. Which party was responsible? Only an investigation will tell.
