BRIDGEPORT, TX (09/23/2015) — A wrong way car accident late Wednesday night killed Leslie Beebe, and injured Brenda Henderson, Sherry Davis, and Jered Hodgkins.
According to Bridgeport Assistant Police Chief Steve Stanford, 69-year-old Leslie Beebe was killed in a head-on car accident on Wednesday in Bridgeport, Texas. The wreck occurred along Highway 380 near Farm Road 1658.
Stanford stated that at around 11:30 p.m., 28-year-old Jered Hodgkins was traveling eastbound on Highway 380 in a pickup truck when he drifted into the westbound lane and struck an SUV, driven by Beebe.
“It appears Hodgkins left his lane, went into the oncoming lane, and the point of impact indicates Beebe was trying to avoid the accident. They were on the far shoulder,” Stanford said.
Beebe was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, where he later died in the early hours of Thursday morning.
According to police, Beebe’s car was also occupied by two passengers: 55-year-old Brenda Henderson and 77-year-old Sherry Davis. Henderson was taken via ground ambulance to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur, Texas with non-life-threatening injuries.
Davis was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital, where she has been listed in serious condition.
Hodgkins was flown to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, where he remains in serious condition.
An investigation for this fatal collision is ongoing.
