AUSTIN, TX (09/13/2015) — A wrong way collision on Sunday killed Walter Pilcher and Stephen Flores, and hospitalized two others.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a wrong way accident on Texas 130 toll on Sunday in Austin, Texas claimed the lives of two men: 42-year-old Walter Fuller Pilcher of Round Rock and 29-year-old Stephen Ryan Flores of Kyle.
The DPS reported that Flores entered the toll road and began traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. A Travis County Deputy attempted to pull Flores over from the opposite lane, however, he was unsuccessful.
Flores continued the wrong way for 13 miles when his Hyundai Sonata struck Ford Explorer, driven by Pilcher, head-on.
After the initial impact, Dawn Morris, 49, attempted to avoid a collision with the wreckage, but her Chevrolet Silverado was struck by the Explorer.
According to police, both Flores and Pilcher died at the scene. Morris and Pilcher’s 15-year-old son were taken to University Medical Center at Brackenridge for treatment.
