Several entities and individuals allegedly connected to a fatal car crash have been sued by the survivors of two individuals who were killed in the crash. The company for whom the driver worked—the driver was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the crash—and two other individuals are being sued over the deaths, which occurred in March of 2011, according to the Southeast Texas Record.
The Crash
The lawsuit alleges that the driver was travelling in the wrong direction down I-70 in Kansas when he hit the victim’s vehicle. The lawsuit alleges negligent entrustment. The lawsuit is seeking damages for funeral expenses, loss of companionship and mental anguish, according to the report.
Complex Accidents
Not every car accident is a straightforward affair. While the driver of the vehicle who caused the crash is generally the one who is sued, there are cases where the company for whom that driver worked or other entities may be found liable for the crash. When this is the situation, lawyers have to determine the connections between the actions or inactions of the company or other individuals and the circumstances surrounding the car crash.
How They Do It
Personal injury attorneys have a great many resources at their disposal. These include resources that can help them to investigate the circumstances of an accident and to find connections between the wreck and how people who may not be obviously involved in that wreck may have played a part in the wreck happening. Sometimes this involves situations where drivers are sent out on the highways without adequate training and sometimes it involves vehicles that are not properly equipped to be on the roadways. There are many ways that companies can exhibit negligence and how that negligence can play a factor in causing a wrongful death.
If you need Texas car accident help for an accident that happened under circumstances that are complex you’ll want to talk to a personal injury attorney. They can determine whether or not it was only another driver who was responsible for your accident or if there were others involved, whether they be other individuals or a company. If it turns out that a company did not live up to their obligations to keep drivers on the roadways safe, the attorney may be able to get you compensation in the form of a jury award or a settlement from the company responsible.
