FRISCO, TX (8/20/2014) — A major collision between a Kenworth 18-wheeler gravel truck and a Lexus SUV has left 58-year-old Yinjie Feng dead.
Frisco police were called to the scene of a fatal accident Wednesday afternoon at about 1:23 p.m. after a tractor trailer hauling gravel collided with a Lexus SUV at the intersection of State Highway 121 (Sam Rayburn Tollway) and Coit Road.
The driver and lone occupant of the Lexus SUV, 58-year-old Yinjie Feng (of Plano), was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the semitrailer was transported to Medical City of Plano with non life-threatening injuries. Police had to close the intersection while crews worked to remove the spilled gravel.
While the cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Frisco Police Department, we always welcome any comments from witnesses who may have seen the collision.
There are many factors which come into play when investigating an accident involving a commercial truck, and investigators need to be aware of this fact. Did you know that there are federal FMCSA laws which apply to commercial vehicle accidents? These laws do not apply to passenger car accidents, and can have a dramatic impact when determining liability. For more information, see this page on truck accidents.
