Acknowledging there is a problem is usually an initial step in fixing it. A viewer of Fox 4 decided to raise awareness of a dangerous driving situation in Arlington and is receiving kudos for it.
Known to us only as JB, this Arlington man set up cameras to record the high-speed cut-through traffic occurring at businesses at the intersection of Abrams and the northbound 360 service road. The video, which he edited and sent to Fox 4’s Street Squad, has a text insert that reads “It’s not if but when and who will be ran down and maybe die! Will anyone try and prevent this tragedy?” Street Squad and Arlington police responded with increasing the frequency of patrols of the Valero gas station and Whataburger restaurant to try and deter drivers from using the parking lots as a shortcut to bypass the light at the intersection.
Personal injury lawyer Jeff Rasansky, an active community advocate, likes seeing when other residents step up and do their part. This story reminds us of Trophy Club’s Don Pinson, who witnessed a potentially deadly situation in Trophy Club and took it on himself to direct traffic to prevent kids being struck while watching the street.
