Paris, Texas — Joe Howard, a local paramedic, was killed Sunday morning (10/13/2013) when his motorcycle collided with a Dodge Caravan.
The accident happened Sunday at around 9:00 a.m. at Loop 286 & 3rd Street (FM 1947) when Howard, who was traveling eastbound down Loop 286 on his Yamaha motorcycle, came upon the 3rd Street intersection. 74-year old Bettie Jarrett, who was headed northbound along 3rd Street, allegedly pulled her Dodge Caravan out in front of Howard. Mr. Howard was taken to Paris Regional Medical Center, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
It is still unclear as to who was at-fault in this accident, but I would like to point out that simply because Mr. Joe Howard was on a motorcycle, does not mean he was at-fault in this accident. Motorcyclists are often unfairly given a bad rap by the general public when it comes to traffic accidents. You must remember that simply because you may have seen motorcyclists in the past driving recklessly, you must not jump to conclusions until a full investigation has been performed.
