MISSION, TX (12/05/2015) — A fatal head-on collision injured three men, and claimed the life of Mario Gonzalez-Garcia early Saturday morning.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) identified 34-year-old Mario Gonzalez-Garcia as the fatal victim of a car accident that occurred along 3 Mile Road near Iowa Road in Mission, Texas.
The DPS preliminary investigation revealed that at around 5:00 a.m., the driver of a black, 1997 Chevrolet Silverado—carrying two male passengers—was traveling westbound when he neglected a no passing zone, drove in the eastbound lane, and collided with a white, 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by Gonzalez-Garcia.
Gonzalez-Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck and one of his passengers were taken to the McAllen Medical Center for treatment of injuries. The second passenger was transported to Mission Regional Medical Center.
DPS Troopers are currently investigating this fatal wreck.
