Keller Residents Try To Save Crash Victim

Gia Randazzo and several other residents and neighbors came to the aid of an accident victim Sunday morning – pulling the injured man from his burning car. Unfortunately, his injuries were too severe, and he passed away.

40-year-old Robert Lopez wasn’t wearing a seat belt when he lost control of his Mercedes CLS550 and crashed into the foundation of a small home off Katy Road in Keller. Investigators believe he was speeding through the narrow pass at 90 mph. The speed limit is 30.

As WFAA reports, residents like Gia heard the impact from blocks away and came running. Setting aside their personal safety, Gia’s friends pulled Lopez from his vehicle moments before it erupted in flames. Cell phone footage taken by neighbors show how devastating the fire grew.

In March, Fort Worth residents rescued another man from a burning SUV, saving his life. Even though they were unable to ultimately save Robert Lopez, Gia Randazzo and her friends are being added to Jeff Rasansky’s hall of fame for DFW citizens taking care of their community.

Rasansky, It is a very unfortunate event. And the Lopez Family may be very upset with me for contacting Channel 8 news. But I felt the story needed to be herd. Its not easy if the story is a friend or family. But Its important that we do what we can to keep others from further tragedies. I understand with The family not being there to actually witness what people were trying to do to help that they can only imagin. My friends pulled him out of his car. He was passed out Im not a medic there wasnt anything I could do for his health. I could care less about being on T.V and Im not going to focus on what the Lopez family says about me. I just hope people hear this story and take an extra step to be safe. There is nothing further that needs to be said other then May Mr. Lopez rest in peace.

"Gia Randazzo and her friends are being added to Jeff Rasansky’s hall of fame for DFW citizens taking care of their community." This statement is nothing but a farce! Gia Randazzo did nothing but film my cousin Bobby's burning car while his body laid within feet of her and her friends. She wanted her 15 minutes of fame and she got it. Instead of pulling him out of his car and leaving the video taping to the media she had the audacity to film something so horrific so that my Aunt and Uncle, along with his wife, sisters, sons and nephew and nieces can see on the TV for an entire week! Instead of letting them grieve, they have to see her repulsive face on TV stating the most ridiculous questions. She should not be in any hall of fame but arrested for not helping the situation. RIP cousin Bobby...we will miss you!!!

Thanks Cari! WFAA, in their news story, reported that "Gia Randazzo took cell phone video of the aftermath when he and friends pulled Lopez out of the high-end sports car." But when I watched the video - you're right, she's a female :) I made some changes to this article. Thanks again!

Hi, I noticed that your article contains some information that is not completely accurate. Twice it's mentioned that "Gia and his friends pulled Lopez from his vehicle," yet Gia is female, it was her friends who pulled Robert out and she also was the one who took footage from her cell phone camera.
