TAYLOR BAYOU, TX (08/15/2015) – 60-year-old Joseph Menis was killed after his pickup truck was rear-ended on Saturday afternoon.
Department of Public Safety (DPS) Public Information Officer Stephanie Davis stated that 60-year-old Joseph Menis was killed after a rear-end crash on Highway 73 in Jefferson County, Texas on Saturday afternoon.
According to Trooper Davis, at around 1:00 p.m., 28-year-old Reid Guidry was traveling eastbound in a 2009 Ford pickup truck when he fell asleep at the wheel and rear-ended a 2010 Dodge pickup truck, driven by Menis.
The impact caused both vehicles to drive off the roadway and rollover.
Menis was extricated and transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he died later that afternoon. He was reportedly not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Trooper Davis stated that Guidry did not sustain any injuries in the accident.
The DPS is currently investigating this fatal crash.
